About Course

This Grade 9 Mathematics Term 4 course develops spatial reasoning through three-dimensional objects, surface area, volume and transformation geometry in line with the 2026 DBE Annual Teaching Plan.

Learners classify solids, construct models from nets, solve measurement problems and perform transformations on the Cartesian plane before completing annual revision and formal-assessment preparation.

What Will You Learn?

 • ATP-aligned lessons, guided practice, quizzes, revision activities and formal-assessment preparation.

Course Content

Geometry of 3D Objects

Describe the five Platonic solids using faces, vertices and edges; recognise spheres and cylinders; use nets to construct cubes, prisms, pyramids and cylinders.

Surface Area and Volume of 3D Objects

Use appropriate formulae and SI-unit conversions to calculate surface area, volume and capacity of cubes, rectangular prisms, triangular prisms and cylinders; investigate the effect of doubling dimensions.

Transformation Geometry

Recognise, describe and perform reflections, translations and rotations on a coordinate plane; identify transformations from image coordinates; reflect in the axes and in the line y = x.

Enlargements and Reductions

Use proportion and scale factor to describe how enlargement or reduction affects perimeter, area and vertex coordinates.

Annual Revision and Formal Assessment

Integrated revision of Terms 1–4 and preparation for the Grade 9 Mathematics final formal assessment.
