About Course

This Grade 10 Mathematics Term 3 course integrates two-dimensional trigonometry, statistics, probability and financial growth.

Learners solve contextual problems, analyse grouped and ungrouped data, use Venn diagrams and probability rules, and apply simple and compound growth models to real-life situations.

What Will You Learn?

 • ATP-aligned lessons, guided practice, quizzes, revision activities and formal-assessment preparation.

Course Content

Two-Dimensional Trigonometry

Solve problems involving right-angled triangles and other two-dimensional trigonometric contexts.

Central Tendency

Calculate and interpret the mean, median and mode for ungrouped data; estimate the mean and identify modal and median intervals for grouped data.

Dispersion and Five-Number Summary

Calculate and interpret range, percentiles, quartiles, interquartile and semi-interquartile ranges; construct and interpret five-number summaries and box-and-whisker diagrams.

Statistical Graphs and Interpretation

Construct and interpret histograms; use measures and graphs to analyse data and make meaningful contextual comments.

Probability Models

Compare experimental relative frequency with theoretical probability and interpret differences.

Venn Diagrams and Probability Rules

Use Venn diagrams; apply the addition rule; identify mutually exclusive and complementary events and calculate related probabilities.

Finance and Growth

Apply simple and compound growth formulae to interest, hire purchase, inflation, population growth and other contexts; understand effects of fluctuating exchange rates.

Term 3 Revision and Formal Tests

Consolidate trigonometry, statistics, probability, finance and growth and prepare for the prescribed formal tests.
